Jadi, molekul pelarut akan melewati membran semipermeabel dari larutan yang konsentrasinya rendah menuju larutan yang lebih pekat. Perpindahan ini akan terus terjadi hingga tercapainya <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">kesetimbangan<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dalam sistem osmosis, dikenal larutan hipertonik (larutan yang mempunyai konsentrasi terlarut tinggi), larutan hipotonik (larutan dengan konsentrasi terlarut rendah), dan larutan isotonik (dua larutan yang mempunyai konsentrasi terlarut sama). Nah, dalam proses osmosis, molekul pelarut berpindah dari larutan yang konsentrasinya rendah menuju larutan yang lebih pekat, berarti molekul pelarut berpindah&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">dari larutan hipotonik ke larutan hipertonik<\/span>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lalu, apa yang dimaksud dengan tekanan osmotik? Tekanan osmotik adalah <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">tekanan hidrostatik yang terbentuk dalam larutan yang lebih pekat saat osmosis terjadi<\/span>. Tekanan osmotik inilah yang <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">akan <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">mempertahankan kesetimbangan osmotik <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">antara suatu larutan dan pelarut murninya yang dipisahkan oleh membran semipermeabel<\/span>. Dengan kata lain, tekanan osmotik adalah tekanan yang diperlukan untuk menghentikan osmosis. Wadah A diisi dengan air murni, sedangkan wadah B diisi dengan suatu larutan. Keduanya dipisahkan oleh membran semipermeabel yang hanya bisa dilalui oleh molekul air saja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gambar (a) menggambarkan kondisi awal. Kemudian, karena konsentrasi larutan B lebih besar, maka akan terjadi proses <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">osmosis<\/span>, di mana air murni akan pindah ke larutan B melewati membran semipermeabel.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Setelah beberapa lama, kondisinya<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> akan tampak seperti pada gambar (b). <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Permukaan larutan B menjadi naik, sedangkan permukaan air murni turun. Nah, <\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\">proses osmosis ini terus terjadi dan baru <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">berhenti<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\">&nbsp;ketika air murni dan larutan B mencapai&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">kesetimbangan osmotik<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\">. <\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\">Nah, kesetimbangan osmotik pada gambar (b) disebabkan oleh tekanan hidrostatik yang terbentuk dalam larutan B saat osmosis terjadi, yang dikenal juga dengan <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">tekanan osmotik<\/span>. <\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\">Tekanan osmotik akan&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">mempertahankan kesetimbangan osmotik<\/span><span style=\"background-color: transparent; font-size: 1rem;\"> pada larutan A dan B.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Namun, kondisi pada gambar (b) bisa dikembalikan lagi ke keadaan awal seperti pada gambar (a).
