Pada tahun 1858, Stanislao Cannizzaro menemukan bahwa&nbsp;teori Avogadro&nbsp;tentang konsep molekul dapat digunakan sebagai dasar penentuan massa molekul berbagai gas. Jika dua macam gas yang volumenya sama diukur pada suhu dan tekanan yang sama, maka massa masing\u2013masing gas dapat ditentukan dari massa jenisnya. Supaya lebih jelas, kita bahas ya!<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Misalnya pada 273 K dan 1 atm, massa jenis gas oksigen sebesar 0,0900 g\/L, dan massa jenis gas hidrogen sebesar 1,429 g\/L. Karena kedua macam gas diukur pada suhu, tekanan, dan volume yang sama, maka jumlah molekul kedua gas pun akan sama. Maka dari itu, massa setiap molekul hidrogen akan sama dengan 0,0900\/1,429 kali massa molekul oksigen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pada waktu itu atom oksigen digunakan sebagai standar massa atom yaitu 16 s.m.a. Oleh karena itu, maka massa molekul oksigen (O<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) adalah 32 s.m.a. Kemudian memberikan gambaran nyata mengenai komposisi molekul, bahwa molekul unsur merupakan kumpulan atom yang berperilaku sebagai suatu kesatuan dengan komposisi umumnya di atom seperti: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-web.ruangguru.com\/landing-pages\/assets\/hs\/We%20are%20having%20a%20baby%20girl!(6)-2.png\" alt=\"komposisi molekul\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\"><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nah,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> untuk sekarang ini, penentuan&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">massa molekul relatif<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Mr) tidak lagi menggunakan metode Cannizaro, melainkan didasarkan pada&nbsp;<\/span>massa atom relatif<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;unsur\u2013unsur penyusunnya.
