Apakah kondisinya sudah berbeda seperti saat awal dicat? Itu namanya korosi, <em>lho<\/em>. Pada dasarnya, peristiwa ini sulit dicegah, tetapi bukan berarti tidak bisa dihindari ya. Korosi dapat dihambat\u00a0<em>kok<\/em>.<em> T<\/em>entunya dengan beberapa cara. Mengontrol atmosfer<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> agar tidak lembab dan banyak oksigen, misalnya dengan membuat lingkungan udara bebas dari oksigen dengan mengalirkan gas CO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Mencegah logam<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> bersinggungan dengan oksigen<\/strong> di udara dan juga air. Pencegahan ini dilakukan dengan cara sebagai berikut:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>a. Mengecatnya<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lapisan cat mencegah kontak langsung besi dengan oksigen dan air. Hanya jika cat tergores atau terkelupas, maka korosi mulai terjadi dan dapat menyebar di bawah cat yang masih utuh. Contoh yang menggunakan teknik ini adalah pada kapal, jembatan dan mobil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">b. Memberi oli atau minyak<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lapisan oli bisa mencegah kontak langsung besi dengan oksigen dan air dan harus dioleskan secara berkala. Contoh yang menggunakan teknik ini adalah pada bagian bergerak dari mesin, seperti mesin mobil.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>c. Memberi lapisan plastik<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lapisan plastik mencegah kontak langsung besi dengan oksigen dan air. Hanya jika plastik terkelupas, korosi mulai terjadi. Contoh yang menggunakan teknik ini adalah pada barang-barang dapur, seperti rak pengering.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>d. Galvanisasi<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Galvanisasi yaitu melapisi logam dengan seng<\/strong> (contohnya atap seng). Lapisan seng (Zn) dapat mencegah kontak langsung logam dengan oksigen dan air. Disamping itu, Zn yang teroksidasi ,emjadi Zn(OH)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0dapat bereaksi lebih lanjut dengan CO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0di udara membentuk lapisan oksida Zn(OH)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.xZnCO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0yang sangat kuat. Apabila lapisan Zn tergores, Zn masih dapat melindungi besi karena Zn (E<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">=-0,76 V) lebih mudah teroksidasi dibanding Fe (E<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">=-0,44 V). Elektroplating<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elektroplating adalah pelapisan logam dengan logam lain menggunakan metode elektrolisis. Sebagai contoh, pelapisan dengan logam nikel (veernikel), krom (contohnya: kran air), timah (misalnya kaleng makanan), dan timbal (contohnya pipa air minum).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>f. Pelapisan krom\/Cr<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lapisan Cr mencegah kontak langsung logam dengan oksigen dan air. Di samping itu, Cr teroksidasi membentuk lapisan oksida Cr<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0yang sangat kuat sehingga dapat melindungi logam Fedi bawahnya.<strong> Apabila tergores, lapisan Cr masih dapat melindungi besi karena Cr (E<\/strong><\/span><strong>o<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>= -0,74V) lebih mudah teroksidasi<\/strong> dibanding Fe (E<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">= -0,44 V).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>g. Pelapisan timah\/Sn<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lapisan Sn dapat mencegah kontak langsung logamdengan oksigen dan air. Akan tetapi, Sn (E<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">= -0,14 V) kurang reaktif dibanding Fe (E<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">o<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">= -0,44 V). Jadi, apabila lapisan Sn tergores, maka besi di bawahnya mulai korosi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #0a73c9;\"><strong>h. Sherardizing<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sherardizing adalah mereaksikan logam dengan asam fosfat sehingga permukaan logam tertutup dengan fosfat (Fe<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(PO<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">). Sebagai contoh, badan mobil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Perlindungan Katodik<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perlindungan katodik dilakukan dengan cara menghubungkan logam yang akan dilindungi dengan logam lain yang mempunyai potensial elektrode yang sangat rendah (biasanya Mg). <strong>Ketika terjadi oksidasi, logam yang dilindungi akan segera menarik elektron dari logam pelindung<\/strong> sehingga oksidasi akan berlangsung pada logam pelindung tersebut.
